K-netizens Showed Mixed Reactions To ITZY’s New MV, “They Filled Up Lia’s Spot” vs “Too Outdated”

ITZY has released the full music video for the track “BORN TO BE”

Amid the heightened expectations of K-pop fans, the music video for ITZY’s track “BORN TO BE” has been unveiled at midnight on December 18th. “BORN TO BE” is an electronic dance song that unravels the challenging and progressive message with the group’s own confidence. Like the lyrics of “Born to be wild and free,” it conveys the bold ambition of ITZY to go as desired in a free world.

Upon the release of the song, Korean netizens however have different opinions. On the day of the song’s released, a post has been made on the Korean popular online community Nate Pann, asking for netizens’ comments on ITZY’s new song.

After one day, the post gathered approximately 68,500 views and countless comments. The top ones include,

  • “I was worried about the vocal part because Lia was absent, but they filled up her spot by lowering the key instead of using a JYP-style rap, so I don’t think there’s anything lacking in vocals. I’m looking forward to the title.”
  • “As expected, ITZY is so good at performing. Can’t wait to see the live version.”
  • “Like the comments say, I liked it because there was no unnecessary rap. “BORN TO BE” is perfect for Ryujin.”
  • “At first, I thought the song was lacking, but it started to sound good because of their performance.”
  • “Yeji is in charge of high notes and Ryujin low notes.”
  • The song really stinks. They should have given them a good song? What’s the point of performing well when the song is not good?”
  • “What’s the problem with JYP? All of their songs are bad… It’s just a waste of the members’s talents.”
  • “I listened to it and turned it off because it was annoying… JYP still can’t read the trend of the times…”
  • “Their voice stinks and everything stinks.”
  • What do you think of ITZY’s “BORN TO BE”?
