K-netizens React To CUBE Correcting (G)I-DLE’s Controversial Supporter Recruitment Notice

Earlier on June 17th, CUBE Entertainment released an announcement on (G)I-DLE’s Weverse channel recruiting supporters for broadcast and fanclub activities. However, fans poured criticism on the agency for recruiting volunteers who are willing to work for free without mentioning any benefit.

Soon later, CUBE corrected the announcement by adding a category called “Offline fan supporter activity benefit”. They apologized for not specifying benefits in their announcement previously and stated, “Detailed rewards and special benefits for supporter activity will be sent to people who are selected”.

The announcement correction spread in various online communities, including theqoo. In response, netizens commented:

– Benefit: Feeling good

– Why aren’t they publicizing the benefits?

– In the case of the agency I know, benefits for fan supporters are: Being able to watch pre-recording broadcasts, getting autographs without having to apply for fansigning event, etc. If they publicize these benefits, criticism will arise again… But it’s rare to see agencies recruiting supporters these days

– Pay them if you want to recruit them

– Isn’t entrance pass to concerts and broadcasts the benefit? Why do they have to keep it a secret?
