K-netizens React To BTS Fans Leaving The Fandom Following Suga’s Drunk Driving Issue

A netizen on Nate Pann recently shared a screenshot of a post by an ARMY (BTS’s fandom name) on X (formerly Twitter). The post shows the posters and merchandise of Suga being torn and thrown away. The fan even added the hashtag #Suga_out_challenge to gather more ARMYs to join.

In response to this, netizens commented:

– When a scandal breaks out, fans don’t want to spend money on the idol group anymore, more seriously, it’s a drunk driving issue. Even someone who used to buy 10 albums feels it’s a waste of money and buys only one instead. Such scandals can also make it hard for new fans to get to know the group.

– Why are people who want a member to leave being labeled as antis, haters, or akgaes of other members? I also participated in the challenge, and now there are more people joining, We all have verified memberships in the official fancafe. Seeing those who oppose the challenge to demand a member’s withdrawal mostly post pictures saved from the Internet or own one or two albums, I can clearly tell that they just talk…

– People in Pann, theqoo, Instiz, etc. are discussing topics such as Suga’s withdrawal and leaving the fandom enthusiastically, but if you talk to people in real life, most of them think it’s not easy for them to quit being an ARMY. Just know that this online space is not the whole world

– The reason I agree with leaving the fandom is that it’s been weeks since the incident broke out, and I can see that he’s just hiding and manipulating public opinion for weeks. The JTBC correction report also proved that it was an electric scooter and on the sidewalk, not on the road, but he’s trying to make the whole incident look like it was a false report. I’m upset knowing that he’s trying to manipulate public opinion instead of reflecting on his actions

– Just keep doing the challenge, a lot of people like us are not going to leave the fandom  because of a few people like you guys
