K-netizens Mock Foreign Fans for Protesting Against New FIFTY FIFTY

On July 25, a topic titled “Foreign K-pop fans are going crazy to boycott the new FIFTY FIFTY” was published on the Korean forum “theqoo”, drawing massive attention with over 83,000 view and 400 comments.

In particular, the topic compiles the reactions of foreign fans to the teaser of FIFTY FIFTY, which will boast a new line-up with 4 new members after 3 out of 4 old members left the group last year following a series of conflicts.

“idk why anyone would willingly join this group after everything that happened”, said a foreign fan, while another lamented, “stop trying to ride on the success of the former members you ABUSED to the point of severe health issues”.

However, it seems that K-netizens have a completely different perspective, showing support for the new FIFTY FIFTY lineup instead of protesting against it. They also mock foreign fans for their reactions.

Below are some comments from K-netizens:

  • Last year, false information about FIFTY FIFTY was spread on Twitter to the extent that it seemed somewhat organized against K-pop outsiders. When false information spreads among outsiders, it is not corrected.
  • Looking at this, it seems like it’s true that overseas K-pop fans hate Korea. They must be unaware of public opinion in Korea, but it feels like they always react like that because they don’t trust Koreans
  • They don’t know anything but are pretending to know something. Please learn Korean and get accurate information, you idiots.
  • If it becomes popular in Korea anyway, these people will be stanning the new lineup too
  • Why are they doing this when they won’t buy the music or album anyway? What are they boycotting for?
  • They don’t even know how many original members there were, let alone their names
