Recently, a topic titled “Correcting the false rumors about BTS & LE SSERAFIM albums” was published on the Korean forum Instiz, drawing significant attention.
In particular, BTS & LE SSERAFIM were previously accused of intentionally selling their album for cheap (only 1.99 USD per album) to inflate achievements in the US, leading to heavy criticisms.
However, as it turns out, the albums sold for 1.99 USD are actually single albums with only one song, not heavily discounted full albums. In addition, it was revealed that pop singers in the US, including big names like Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande, have been selling single CDs at this price for ages.
A fan of Taylor Swift even called for other fans to buy the pop singer’s 1.99 USD single CD to increase sales as there was only one day left in the tracking period.
On top of this, the single CD sales won’t be reflected in the Billboard 200 chart, and instead only counted for Billboard Hot 100, so it won’t inflate the US sales for related artists.
