K-netizens comment on the fanwar between BTS and EXO fandoms

A topic about the war between BTS and EXO fandoms drew keen attention.

A netizen recently expressed their thought on the fanwar between fans of BTS and EXO. They said, “Maybe it’s because I’m a fan of 4th-generation idols, I don’t understand fanwars of 3rd-generation groups”, adding “However, I don’t understand why BTS and EXO fans hate each other although the two groups have different achievements as well as fandom sizes and power”

In response, other netizens commented:

– EXO-Ls altogether crossed the line when BTS received an award…

exo

– They have been hating each other for a long time but EXO-Ls can’t seem to forget about their conflict in the first place

– It’s because EXO-Ls are still stuck in the year 2015~2016ㅋ

– EXO-L is the worst in K-pop fandom history…

– I don’t understand why people say BTS and EXO fandoms are only ‘fighting’. I think that’s how they describe it because they haven’t experienced the events back then. BTS fans did not start any fight but EXO fans went online claiming that EXO sold more albums. They wondered, ‘how could BTS from a small company sell more than a big company group?’, and accused BTS of sajaegi (album sales manipulation). They made ‘sajaegi’ rise to real-time trending in the end, the singers had to clarify it themselves. Not just one incident, there were too many to list out here. There was once an article about a 6th-grade student, who used to be an EXO fan but later became BTS fan, getting bullied at school just because she changed her fandom. Only when the number of BTS fans increased significantly were we able to put a stop to such bullying behaviors
