On May 30th, NMIXX’s agency JYP Entertainment issued a statement, saying “The sound accident during NMIXX’s performance at Shinhan University Festival was a planned event to raise the atmosphere of the festival. We shared details of the plan with the organizer and used a special audio track for the event”.
They continued, “However, to make the performance look natural, we did not tell NMIXX members about the plan”, adding “We are sorry that we couldn’t take into consideration that the event could cause confusion and inconvenience to the audience and fans. We will be more careful to prevent this from happening again in the future”.
Earlier on the 27th, NMIXX performed “DICE” Shinhan University Water Festival. In the middle of the performance, the MR was suddenly turned off but the members continued singing to complete the stage successfully and received loud cheers from the audience.
However, the university’s student council later revealed that the sound accident was planned before the event. As such, many netizens expressed disappointment, claiming it a careless plan while NMIXX’s fellow idols are suffering controversy over live singing skills. However, many defended the girl group, saying live performances were still better than idols singing with AR, and demanded JYP’s explanation.
