Anticipation is rising for the upcoming historical K-drama Jeongwol 17, which is set to bring together Jung So Min and Kim Yo Han in a compelling rebirth revenge romance.

The project marks Jung So Min’s long-awaited return to the sageuk genre, four years after her standout performance in Alchemy of Souls. Her previous role earned widespread acclaim, making her comeback to historical storytelling one of the most talked-about casting updates in recent weeks.

In Jeongwol 17, Jung So Min will portray Heo Seol Hee, a once-brilliant woman whose life is shattered after her entire family is massacred. After losing everything, she is mysteriously reborn at the age of 20 during the Joseon era, setting out on a lonely and determined path of revenge. The narrative promises an intense blend of emotional struggle, character growth, and romance.

Kim Yo Han, best known for his transition from idol to actor following his appearance on Produce X 101, will take on his first-ever historical drama role. He is expected to play Lee Hyun, a mysterious man who has lived isolated within palace walls. His encounter with Seol Hee is set to spark a layered relationship that intertwines fate, love, and vengeance.

The drama is penned by writer Kim Eun Yoo, whose script previously won the grand prize at the 2023 KT Studio Genie content competition. Judges at the time praised the project, stating that “the characters and narrative structure are exceptionally strong and have great potential to resonate with the public.”

Directing the series is Park Won Gook, known for works such as Marry My Husband, raising expectations for a visually rich and emotionally engaging production. Filming is scheduled to begin later this year, with a premiere targeted for 2027.

Jung So Min’s casting is especially noteworthy given her versatility across genres—from romantic comedies like Because This Is My First Life to melodramas and fantasy hits. This time, she is expected to showcase a darker, more intense side as a woman driven by loss and vengeance.

Meanwhile, Kim Yo Han’s casting signals a bold step in his acting career. Having built his portfolio through youth dramas such as School 2021, this role offers him an opportunity to expand into more mature and complex storytelling.

With a gripping premise centered on rebirth, revenge, and romance, Jeongwol 17 is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated historical dramas of the coming years.
