Renowned Korean chef Jung Ji Sun left the audience deeply moved during the 2025 KBS Entertainment Awards, held on December 20 at the KBS Hall in Yeouido, Seoul, when she revealed a deeply personal family matter during her acceptance speech.
Accepting the Popularity Award for her role in the variety show “Boss in the Mirror” on KBS2, Jung Ji Sun began with gratitude toward the show’s team. “First and foremost, I truly thank the production staff. ‘Boss in the Mirror’ has been such a precious program that allowed me to be recognized as a chef by so many people,” she said warmly.
She also extended heartfelt thanks to Chef Lee Yeon Bok, stating, “Chef Lee has supported me since my very first steps in broadcasting. I’m always grateful for how proudly he introduced me as a chef.”
But it was her final words that silenced the hall and resonated across social media. In a calm yet emotional tone, Jung shared, “Actually, just a week ago, my twin sibling was diagnosed with a brain tumor. They are going through a very difficult time right now.” She added a touching message of strength: “Dear sibling, we can overcome this—let’s fight together.”
Jung Ji Sun’s candid confession was a rare moment of vulnerability on an award stage, one that struck a chord with many viewers and fans who praised her courage in the face of personal hardship.
The acclaimed chef has built a strong connection with “Boss in the Mirror,” having previously won the Rookie Award in 2023 and the Excellence Award in 2024 before this year’s Popularity Award—a testament to her growing influence and enduring public support.
Best known for her skills in Chinese cuisine, Jung has earned the nickname “Queen of Dim Sum”.
