On January 6, a video titled “Why Jung Hyung Don’s Wife Han Yoo Ra Is Being Criticized” was uploaded to Jung’s YouTube channel “Mungchin TV.” After watching a viral short clip filled with provocative claims, Jung Hyung Don reacted with visible shock and frustration.

The controversial short-form video alleged that Jung Hyung Don had downplayed his debt before marriage, lost financial control after marriage, and that these issues caused his marriage registration to be delayed by 11 months. While Jung Hyung Don admitted that financial struggles existed early in their marriage, he firmly denied that debt was the reason for the delayed registration.

“What are they talking about? We didn’t delay our marriage registration because of debt,” he said, drawing a clear line against the misleading narrative.

The fake news went further, claiming that Jung Hyung Don became a “goose father” (living apart from his family) while his wife and daughters stayed in Hawaii, allegedly leading him to develop mental health issues and suspend his broadcasting career.

Jung Hyung Don fake news controversy

Jung Hyung Don responded bluntly: “Are they saying my wife and kids went to Hawaii, and that’s why I became mentally ill and stopped working? What am I supposed to do with this kind of nonsense?”

The moment that pushed Jung Hyung Don over the edge was a claim that his wife did not return to Korea during his mother’s funeral. He immediately refuted the accusation with anger.

“She came back. My wife and my children came back. Of course they did,” he emphasized. “The fact that I even have to explain this is absurd.”

What shocked Jung Hyung Don the most was the massive engagement the video received over 5,000 comments.

“There are more than 5,400 comments on this. The fact that I have to explain lies like this is ridiculous,” he said. “What angers me more is that people are making money off this. People believe it, so they leave comments.”

Visibly hurt, Jung Hyung Don criticized the morality behind such content: “Is it really okay to slash apart a family that’s living well, just because you feel like it? It’s deeply hurtful. In 2026, let’s stop making money this way. Live properly. Live like human beings.”

Jung Hyung Don married former broadcast writer Han Yoo Ra in 2009, and the couple has twin daughters. Despite maintaining a relatively private family life, they have frequently been the target of speculation something Jung made clear he will no longer tolerate.
