Jujutsu Kaisen is a dark fantasy manga by Gege Akutami that was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump. The story follows the protagonist, Yuji Itadori, who becomes entangled in a fierce battle against curses after absorbing a curse into his own soul to save his friends.

The manga was adapted into an anime in October 2020, and a movie, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, was released in December 2021, grossing ¥26.5 billion worldwide. The second season of the anime, covering the “Hidden Inventory/Premature Death” and “Shibuya Incident” arcs, aired from July to December 2023. A movie compilation of the “Hidden Inventory/Premature Death” arc is scheduled for release in 2025, and a third season, Culling Game, has also been confirmed. In addition, the Gege Akutami Jujutsu Kaisen Exhibition will be held in Osaka starting in April 2025.

On September 30, the manga came to a conclusion with Chapter 271, marking the end of its six-and-a-half-year run since its serialization began in 2018.

From September 24, the official X account (formerly Twitter) began a countdown, posting images with the message “Only ○ days left” until the end. Fans expressed their anticipation and sadness, with comments like, “Nooo! It’s my favorite series!” and “I’m curious about the final chapter, but I don’t want it to end,” with many hoping for a happy ending.

Additionally, a service allows all readers to apply for a “mini digital print” of the original manuscript for the final chapter.

It wasn’t just readers who were moved by the finale. The official X account of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime posted a celebratory illustration and comment from Shota Goshozono, director of the second season. The full comment can be read on the anime’s official website.

Voice actors from the anime also expressed their gratitude on their personal X accounts. Junya Enoki, the voice of Yuji Itadori, shared his anticipation for Gege Akutami’s future works, writing, “Please let us read another great manga soon.”
