“Jujutsu Kaisen” Ending Carries a Special Message Unnoticed by Most

"Jujutsu Kaisen" ends with an image of Sukuna's finger, accompanied by a very special message that was not translated into English.

The ending of “Jujutsu Kaisen” sparked much controversy as the manga concluded right after the major battle between the young sorcerers and the King of Curses.

Additionally, Sukuna meets Mahito in a hallway that souls pass through after death, and here, Mahito tells Sukuna that he had lied about wanting to live in a way that suited his true nature.

Sukuna not only lied to others but also to himself. Because Mahito can sense souls, his previous interaction with Sukuna was enough for him to realize that Sukuna had been living a lie. The King of Curses truly wanted revenge against all those who looked down on him as something repulsive.

However, Sukuna says he had two choices to live by, and if he had another life, he would choose a different path. As he says this, he comforts the crying Uraume and walks away with them, leaving an angry Mahito behind. In the final panel of the manga, we see Sukuna’s finger sealed in a small wooden shrine.

However, what most fans don’t know is that the wooden box containing Sukuna’s finger has a special message written on it. The message reads, ““Against malevolence and vengeful threats.” However, this detail was lost in translation.

The story of “Jujutsu Kaisen” began with Sukuna’s finger being used to protect a certain area from curses and ends with the final finger being used for the same purpose. Despite all his cruelty, Sukuna had been used as a tool of protection for centuries, and he continues to be used in that way even after his second death.

A fan of “Jujutsu Kaisen” shared the message written on the box’s lid on Twitter/X, and many people appreciated the meaning behind it. One commenter asked, “So the finger became like a talisman of sorts and now instead of attracting curses it repels them? Even more since the shrine isn’t locked up but open and the atmosphere is calm and serene”

“If I remember correctly the symbolism of a shrine or some other container for a spiritual object lightly opening up is meant to indicate that spirit moving on,” another person shared.

“This made me check the first chapter so see what the box where the finger Megumi found said and it’s the same kanjis. Still interesting enough to say that this time since is the only finger and Sukuna is ready to follow a different path, things will be different,” another fan expressed.

On the other hand, some fans interpreted the ending of “Jujutsu Kaisen” differently and compared it to the “Attack on Titan” finale.
