BTS’s Suga is facing a backlash because of his drunk driving issue. Criticism intensified as he was found to have lied about his kind of vehicle, the distance he rode, and the place he fell. As a result, many fans have expressed disappointment and begun to turn their back on Suga.
On August 14th, DongA Ilbo released a report covering the drunk driving incident of Suga with new CCTV footage. In addition, they also claimed that the person in the CCTV footage previously obtained by JTBC was not Suga. According to JTBC’s CCTV video, Suga’s scooter was moving from Nine One Hannam to Namsan, but in fact, Suga was heading toward Nine One Hannam.
TV Chosun continued to release new CCTV showing the incident from another angle. In this video, Suga fell as he was turning left to enter Nine One Hannam. This also proved that Suga’s claims of “going only 500 meters” and “falling in front of the house” in his apology letter were correct.

As such, his fans immediately criticized JTBC for their false report and defended the male idol. They believe that the media outlet is trying to harm Suga.
Still, some other details in Suga’s statement are still considered suspicious or incorrect. Apart from the type of vehicle, the amount of alcohol Suga consumed is also suspicious. The BTS member said he drank only one cup of beer but his blood alcohol concentration level was equivalent to 9-10 cups of beer.
In addition, Dispatch also pointed out two mistakes of Suga. The first one is his exceptionally high blood alcohol concentration level (0.227%). Another one is that he rode the scooter on the sidewalk.
Later on the same day, BTS’s agency Big Hit Music confirmed that the man in the footage released by DongA Ilbo was Suga.
