Jiyeon Talks About First Meeting With Husband Hwang Jae-gyun, “I Asked For His Number First”
Baseball player Hwang Jae-gyun and singer-actress Jiyeon recalled their dating days
On October 12th, Jiyeon’s YouTube channel “JIYEON” uploaded a new video titled “Wedding Behind Story EP.1”.
The video shows Jiyeon and Hwang Jae-gyun talking while watching wedding videos on their laptop. Recalling their first meeting, Hwang Jae-gyun said, “We have a mutual friend. When the Covid-19 pandemic was really severe, he called me out of the blue and said, ‘I’m in a bit of a crisis right now. Can you come over so we can talk?’”, adding, “He said he was with some of his close friends. Then I told him to ask his friends how many times they’d got vaccinated. Fortunately, they all got vaccinated. So, I went there”
Jiyeon said, “I opened the door when you came, didn’t I?”. Regarding her first impression of Jiyeon, Hwang Jae-gyun said, “I was startled and I simply thought, ‘Oh, she’s so pretty’”. On the other hand, Jiyeon said, “I thought ‘He’s really huge’. I’d never seen a person so big!”.
Hwang Jae-gyun continued, “I really thought that I would never see you again. 10 minutes after we met, our mutual friend got a bit drunk and said something like, ‘If you two get married, you’ll make a really beautiful baby’”, adding, “I thought you must have felt uncomfortable and offended to be talked to and associated with a man you just met. So I thought, ‘There’ll be no second time’. So we had a very comfortable conversation and she went home in an hour.”
Jiyeon added, “At first, I didn’t know much about baseball, so I didn’t know much about you. We didn’t ask about our ages or anything like that. But then I had to go home first, and I thought he was a lot older than me. I asked for his number, and I was being polite and apologized for going first. And that was the beginning of our relationship. Guess if I hadn’t asked for his number, it would have been over”.
Hwang Jae-gyun agreed, saying “I can’t ask for your phone number like that first.” Hearing that, Jiyeon said, “I asked for his number but I didn’t mean it in any of these ways”, drawing laughter.
