Actress Jin Ki-joo is proving her unmatched acting spectrum with three consecutive hits “Undercover High School,” “Uncle Samsik,” and Netflix’s “Teach You a Lesson.” Successfully taking on three completely different roles back-to-back, the actress has once again demonstrated her versatility, earning praise as a performer capable of fully absorbing any genre or character while captivating global audiences.

Released on June 5, Netflix series “Teach You a Lesson” follows the efforts of characters working to restore Korea’s collapsing education system through the fictional Educational Rights Protection Bureau. In the drama, Jin Ki-joo plays inspector Im Han-rim, a member of the agency tasked with confronting problematic schools and protecting teachers.
Jin Ki-joo’s portrayal has drawn particular attention for turning what could have been an exaggerated, overly theatrical high-energy character into a grounded and compelling performance. Viewers praised her for balancing Han-rim’s bulldozer-like confidence with the emotional wounds hidden beneath the surface, skillfully controlling the character’s intensity and vulnerability to heighten immersion in the story.

Audience reactions have been overwhelmingly enthusiastic. In particular, Jin Ki-joo’s military-style speech pattern and explosive shouting scenes have become a hot topic online. Following the release, viewers flooded online communities with comments such as, “This is the first time I searched for an actor after watching a Korean drama – her military tone is insane,” “Her rock-spirit shouting performance is electrifying,” and “Teacher Han-rim’s yelling is weirdly addictive and hilarious.”
Many also praised the actress’s successful transformation into the action-comedy genre, commenting, “Action comedy suits her perfectly,” “Characters who shout that much are usually unlikeable, but Jin Ki-joo somehow makes her lovable,” and “There’s something deeply moving in her acting — I hope she does more action roles.”
Jin Ki-joo’s unstoppable streak shines even brighter when compared to her dramatically different performances in previous projects.

Last year, in MBC’s hit Friday-Saturday drama “Undercover High School,” which won the network’s Drama of the Year award at its year-end ceremony, Jin Ki-joo played Oh Su-a, a dedicated temporary teacher willing to do anything for her students. Through a mix of workplace realism, heartfelt emotions, and a sweet romance line with Jeong Hae-seong (played by Seo Kang-joon), she solidified her reputation as one of romantic comedy’s leading actresses while achieving both popularity and buzz.

Reflecting on the project through her agency, Jin Ki-joo shared, “‘Undercover High School’ is a project that made me a little more mature. Playing a character with a strong desire to protect others helped me become emotionally stronger.”
Before that, in Disney+ series “Uncle Samsik” in 2024, Jin Ki-joo showcased an entirely different side through a restrained and deeply emotional performance. Set in the chaotic post-war Korea of the 1960s, she played Joo Yeo-jin, an elite graduate and newspaper reporter with a Korean literature background, captivating viewers with her expressive eyes and quiet emotional depth.

Speaking about the role at the time, Jin Ki-joo explained, “It was my first time playing such a quiet character. Yeo-jin is someone who lets internal conflict mature for 100 hours before finally saying one sentence.” True to her words, the actress delivered a powerful presence through restrained dialogue, proving her strength even in silence.
Despite sharing the screen with powerhouse actors including Song Kang-ho, Byun Yo-han, Lee Kyu-hyung, and Seo Hyun-woo, Jin Ki-joo held her own, seamlessly blending into the ensemble while leaving a lasting impact with her solid acting foundation.

From the lovable romantic comedy charm of “Undercover High School,” to the emotionally layered seriousness of “Uncle Samsik,” and the explosive shouting scenes and thrilling action of “Teach You a Lesson,” Jin Ki-joo continues to reinvent herself with every role. Rather than relying on flashy titles, the actress is proving her worth through pure acting skill leaving global audiences eager to see what remarkable transformation she delivers next.
