On November 13, at the Disney+ Original Preview 2025 event held at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel Conference Center, Disney+ unveiled its APAC original content and upcoming entertainment lineup. Among them, the cross-border romance drama Merry Berry Love was highlighted, showcasing Ji Chang-wook and Imada Mio as the lead couple.

The story follows a Korean designer who suffers a painful career failure and relocates to a remote Japanese island to start anew. There, he meets a mysterious strawberry farmer’s daughter, and their opposites-attract relationship develops into a romance that transcends cultural and national boundaries.
Ji Chang-wook shared his excitement about the role: “The character setup itself was really fun, and I’ve always wanted to work in Japan. Receiving this project offer made me feel it could be a really interesting collaboration. I’m also looking forward to matching chemistry with Imada Mio. This drama has humanism and love, and the focus will be how that love overcomes cultural barriers.”

Imada Mio added: “Language was a challenge, but the story is about two people drawn to each other and wanting to know more. I’m trying my best to express that desire through communication in the series.”
Merry Berry Love marks Disney+’s first multinational drama, currently filming across South Korea and Japan. It is scheduled for exclusive release on Disney+ in 2026.
