Ji Chang-wook Expresses Love For Mom, “She Had A Hard Time Because Dad Passed Away Early”
Actor Ji Chang-wook guested on “You Quiz on the Block” and expressed his extraordinary affection for his mom
tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block” broadcast on July 24th featured the guest appearance of Hallyu star Ji Chang-wook.
On the show, Ji Chang-wook revealed a story about his best friend from high school, who is now the CEO of his agency. The actor explained, “He’s my best friend. We’ve been friends since the first year of high school, then he became my manager and now the CEO of my agency”, adding “Back then, all the managers in the company quit their jobs for some reasons. So I asked my friend, who was working part-time in Anyang, ‘Do you want to be my manager? How about working with me?’, then we started working together”.
In addition, Ji Chang-wook told an anecdote about the CEO friend, who was exhausted from night shoots and far filming locations. He said, “Every time I opened my eyes, we were at a rest stop. We kept going to rest stops to sleep. Normally, a trip would take only 2.5-3 hours but we ended up going for 9 hours”, drawing laughter.
Especially, Ji Chang-wook expressed his love for his mother, saying “Mom is my driving force”.
He confessed, “My Dad passed away a long time ago and my Mom suffered a lot. It was very tough for her”, adding “Ever since I was young, I already thought about protecting my Mom as a son, as a family member and as a man”.
Recalling the past, the actor continued, “When I was young, Mom used to run a meat restaurant and a spicy fish stew restaurant. It was a small restaurant, so she did it all by herself. But on busy days, I often went there to help with the serving”, adding “Cleaning the grilling pan was the most difficult thing at the meat restaurant, while it was the tank in the spicy fish stew restaurant”.
Ji Chang-wook shared, “In fact, I didn’t have enough money to attend normal school. The tuition was too expensive. So I worked part-time with the friend who is now the CEO of my company. Delivery service is the job that helped me earn the most”, adding “I lived with the goal that my Mom would not have to suffer or worry about money anymore”.
Revealing that he is still affectionate and sweet to his Mom, Ji Chang-wook said, “However, that may not make my Mom feel completely satisfied. Rather than giving her nice things or buying her delicious food, I think the best thing is spending more time with her. I try to have dinner with Mom whenever possible. We spend time together like friends”, adding “When I was mentally exhausted due to issues in my life and work, I find it healing just by seeing Mom living her daily life”.
