Jessica on Leaving Girls’ Generation: “One of the Darkest Times of My Life”

In a podcast, Jessica revealed her feelings about leaving Girls’ Generation and recalled her experiences of being a Kpop idol

On December 20, a podcast video titled “Jessica Jung Opens Up About Finding Closure After SNSD. (ft. Jessica Jung)” was published on the YouTube channel “The Daily Ketchup”.

Here, Jessica recalled her experiences as a Kpop idol and mentioned her feelings after leaving Girls’ Generation (also known as SNSD).

In particular, Jessica revealed that she felt quite a culture shock when moving from the US to Korea, and revealed experiences of her trainee life, saying that since she got the right timing, her trainee life was filled with good experiences.

The female idol also confessed that at times, she desired to lead a normal life, but at the same time really enjoying her life as a celebrity.

Later on, Jessica mentioned her feelings after leaving Girls’ Generation, saying, “I try to put the past behind me, and I always try to look at the brighter things, the brighter side. Of course, that time was one of the darkest times of my life, one of the darkest periods of my life, but I had my family and friends to really support me, and my fans were always there.”

According to Jessica, she ended up not feeling alone and finding the experience to be “a good transitioning period” which allows her to grow up.

On the other hand, Jessica, who debuted in Girls’ Generation in 2007, announced her departure from the group in 2014. At the time, the female idol claimed that she was asked to leave the group after being forced to choose between Girls’ Generation and her fashion brand “Blanc & Eclare”, whilst SM contradicted Jessica, saying that the female idol herself desired to halt activities.
