On September 16, Jessi posted on her social media: “Motivation Monday: Push your limit, not your luck. Thirst traps aren’t only for Thursdays.. You can get it any day.” She included several photos showing herself working out at a Korean gym, dressed in form-fitting activewear that revealed her toned figure and prominent back tattoo.

Her confident workout photos immediately caught attention, as they confirmed that she was back in Korea. This return comes after she left the country amid the backlash surrounding the fan assault case, during which she also parted ways with her former agency.

The incident dates back to September 29 last year, when a fan approached Jessi in Apgujeong, Gangnam, asking for a photo. The fan was later assaulted by members of her entourage while Jessi walked away, sparking public outrage. She was subsequently investigated by police after lawsuits and complaints were filed by the victim and netizens. Jessi maintained that she had just met the assailants that day and was not involved in the violence.

Authorities later decided not to indict Jessi, citing insufficient evidence to prove she hid or helped the offenders escape. Meanwhile, rapper Koala, who was part of her group that day, was indicted for assault, and another foreign acquaintance involved fled abroad, leading to an Interpol notice.

Following the controversy, Jessi ended her exclusive contract with her agency and issued a public apology, saying: “I regretted it thousands of times. If I could go back, I would. I want to correct my mistakes now and do my best to support the victim’s recovery.”

Meanwhile, Jessi launched her own independent label, UNNI COMPANY, and has continued her music career on her own terms.
