BLACKPINK’s Jennie has spoken candidly for the first time since the group’s return to full-member activities, sharing her fears, reflections, and love for performing with her members.

In a recent cover shoot and interview with French fashion magazine CR Fashion Book, Jennie confessed: “I have a lot of fears. I don’t like staying the same for too long. I’m afraid that if I don’t move forward and change, I won’t be able to see the life that’s right in front of me.”

Jennie recalled her journey from an ordinary girl in Auckland, New Zealand, who once dreamed of becoming a lawyer or teacher, to discovering her passion for music at age 14. She sent a video of herself singing Rihanna’s “Take a Bow” to YG Entertainment, which eventually led her to become a trainee.

“Back then, it felt like everyone was chasing their dreams. I was too. I didn’t really understand the pressure of entering the music industry—I was simply following what I loved,” she explained.

BLACKPINK has since achieved unprecedented global success. The group was the first K-pop girl group invited to Coachella in 2019 and went on to set records with their Born Pink world tour (2021–2022), which drew 1.8 million fans across 66 shows, becoming the highest-grossing girl group tour in history. Building on this momentum, they are now connecting with fans worldwide through their new large-scale project Deadline.

Reflecting on their comeback, Jennie said: “We’re kids living the happiest time of our lives. Sometimes I see videos that fans post, and I’m surprised at how much I’m enjoying the moment. I thought a lot would change after a year and a half of solo work, but nothing has really changed. Being on stage with the members feels like coming home.”

She added: “I want to accept myself more fully and learn more about who I am. I’ll follow my heart.”

Jennie’s heartfelt words underscore not only her dedication to personal growth but also the deep bond she continues to share with her BLACKPINK members.
