Singer Jay Park abruptly became absent from official engagements after his controversial participation in a breast cancer awareness gala led to major public criticism. The issue began with his performance at the “Love Your W 2025” campaign event, where he sang his hit track “Mommae” a song whose lyrics include references such as “twins hanging on your chest” and other body‑centric imagery that many deemed insensitive given the cause.

In particular, the campaign hosts fashion magazine W Korea received mounting backlash for staging what critics called a networking party rather than a meaningful advocacy event. Netizens pointed out that “drinking and posing for photos” did little to advance breast cancer awareness.
As a result of the controversy, Jay Park was removed from a high‑profile luxury brand event scheduled for October 23 in Seongdong‑gu, Seoul. His spot was replaced by Girls’ Generation member Taeyeon. On October 22, the event organisers cited “program adjustments” and a decision to shift focus toward a female celebrity as the reason for the change.

In response to mounting public dissatisfaction, Jay Park posted an Instagram apology on October 16: “I performed as I normally would in good faith, for those present at the event. If any cancer patients watching my performance felt uncomfortable or offended, I am truly sorry.”
Despite both Jay Park and W Korea issuing formal apologies, the public’s negative sentiment continues to linger. As of now, Jay’s absence from major events appears to reflect a pause in his public promotional activities while the issue remains under scrutiny.
