Jang Na-ra’s K-drama Went Viral for Mirroring 2 Top Korean Stars’ Divorce

A divorce and infidelity case involving 2 Korean stars are said to uncannily resemble the plot of Jang Na-ra’s K-drama "Good Partner".

On August 30th, reports emerged that famous host Park Ji-Yoon had filed a compensation lawsuit against an individual referred to as A. The case’s first hearing was held at the Jeju District Court, Second Criminal Department, with a second hearing scheduled for October 29th. Meanwhile, B is allegedly connected to Choi Dong-Suk, Park Ji-yoon’s husband.

While Park Ji-Yoon’s representatives simply stated, “We’d like to apologize for any inconvenience caused by the artist’s personal affairs,” Choi Dong-Suk took to social media with a more direct response.

In particular, the TV personality confirmed that Park Ji-Yoon had indeed sued his acquaintance but maintained, “There was absolutely no wrongdoings during my marriage to Park Ji-Yoon. I will take strong legal action against any defamation based on baseless claims.”

Subsequently, he filed his own lawsuit against Park Ji-Yoon and B, alleging their affair led to the marriage’s breakdown.

YouTuber Lee Jin-ho revealed that Park Ji-Yoon’s infidelity lawsuit was filed in June, stemming from a gathering Choi Dong-Suk had with acquaintances earlier this year. The situation reportedly escalated when photos from this gathering surfaced on social media.

The parallels between this case and the recently concluded SBS drama “Good Partner” are striking. In the drama, Kim Ji-sang (Ji Seung-hyun) accuses Cha Eun-kyung (Jang Na-ra) of having an “office affair” and spreads rumors about her “office husband.” Cha Eun-kyung retaliates by exposing his “double life,” but Kim Ji-sang employs a counterattack strategy despite her evidence.

In fact, the affairs in “Good Partner” were so messy that Jang Na-ra herself even had to question why she even got married.

“Good Partner” writer Choi Yu-ra addressed criticism about the drama’s supposedly excessive content on “Yoo Quiz on the Block,” stating, “In reality, it’s even more extreme.” She noted that real divorce cases often surpass the drama’s depictions in intensity.

While the courts will ultimately decide the outcome of Park Ji-Yoon and Choi Dong-Suk’s custody and infidelity cases, the situation highlights a crucial point made in “Good Partner”: children are the greatest victims of bitter divorces. This is particularly concerning given that Park Ji-Yoon and Choi Dong-Suk’s children are already in the public eye through numerous social media posts. The damage inflicted by their parents’ mutual accusations could have lasting consequences for these young lives.
