According to an exclusive report by MyDaily on January 6, actor Jang Ki Yong will star as the lead in the upcoming drama The Law of the Line.
In the series, Jang Ki Yong plays Tak Do Il, a team leader in the Central Team of the Seoul Regional Headquarters’ Sales Group at Nara Bank. A graduate of a regional university, Tak is considered an outsider—or a so-called “black tie”—who has no powerful connections and little chance of joining elite corporate circles after entering the company through blind recruitment.

However, after playing a key role in apprehending a voice phishing criminal, Tak Do Il receives a commendation directly from the bank president and is transferred to Seoul just one year after joining the company. From there, he rises rapidly, becoming a role model among fellow outsiders and emerging as a top-tier “kingmaker” within the organization.
The Law of the Line is described as an office political noir, portraying ruthless power struggles among corporate “office mafia.” Armed with nothing but razor-sharp political instincts, the protagonist overturns entrenched hierarchies and dismantles existing power lines. The drama explores realistic workplace issues—such as loyalty tests, forced alignment, and performance evaluations—through episodic storytelling that resonates deeply with modern office workers.

The series will be directed by Kim Sung Yong, known for his work on The Veil and My Dearest, raising expectations for intense storytelling and polished production.
Jang Ki Yong recently wrapped up his role in SBS’s My Kiss Was a Mistake, which concluded on December 25. Through the series, he successfully showcased emotional depth across breakups and reunions, further solidifying his reputation as an actor well-suited for romantic comedies.
With The Law of the Line, Jang Ki Yong is set to present a starkly different image—one rooted in ambition, strategy, and moral gray zones—signaling a new phase in his acting career and building anticipation for his transformation in the world of office politics.
