During the conversation, he mentioned the term “angimotti” while discussing “yar,” a slang expression popular among younger users. The problem was that “angimotti” has been used with an obscene meaning on Ilbe, a far-right online community in South Korea. After seeing his message, some fans warned him not to use the term, saying it was connected to a site known for mocking the deceased.
However, Jang Hyun-seung’s initial response made the backlash worse. According to the report, he replied, “Even if I get criticized, I won’t delete it,” and later added, “How would I know that? I’ll delete it, but if you’re uncomfortable, leave. Don’t overinterpret it.”
As criticism spread, Jang Hyun-seung apologized and admitted he had not properly understood how the expression could be used or received. “I used the expression carelessly without fully recognizing what meaning it could have and how it could be accepted. Regardless of my intention, I should have been more careful, and I’m sorry,” he said.
He also reflected on his attitude after fans raised concerns. “I took the concerns about the remark too lightly, and instead of fully acknowledging my mistake, I tried to explain my position and insisted on it. I am reflecting a lot,” he continued.
