Jang Dong Gun to reprise his role in “Arthdal Chronicles” season 2 

Jang Dong Gun is confirmed to return in the upcoming season 2 of “Arthdal Chronicles.”

As reported by News1 on April 20th, Jang Dong Gun has confirmed his appearance in tvN’s “Arthdal ​​Chronicles” season 2. “Arthdal ​​Chronicles” is an ancient historical fantasy drama about the birth of civilization and nations in ancient times that was attempted for the first time in Korea. Like season 1, season 2 of “Arthdal Chronicles” will be set in the fictional land of Arth and depict the struggles, unity, and love of mythical heroes that live there.

The same as season 1, writers Kim Young Hyun and Park Sang Yeon, who are known as period drama masters and co-wrote “Queen Seondeok”, “Deep Rooted Tree,” and “Six Flying Dragons”, will also be in charge of the screenplay for “Arthdal Chronicles 2”. Season 1’s director Kim Won Seok will not be returning as director Kim Kwang Sik of the film “The Great Battle” will take over. 

Jang Dong Gun will reprise his Tagon role in season 2. Tagon is the eldest son of Sanung, the powerful ruler of Arthdal ​​and the leader of the Arthdal ​​League.

Meanwhile, the main characters of “Arthdal Chronicles 2” are set to change. Lee Joon Gi is in talks to play the male lead Eunseom instead of Song Joong Ki in season 1, while Shin Se Kyung is considered to replace Kim Ji Won for the role of Tanya.

Season 2 of “Arthdal ​​Chronicles” is scheduled to start filming within this year and premiere in 2023.
