In a video released on August 21 via Studio Genie’s official YouTube channel, the main cast of My Troublesome Star joined host Lee Seung-guk for a playful talk session titled “Lee Seung-guk’s Promotion Classroom | Want to Play a Game for Drama PR Rights?”
Jang Da-ah, who plays Im Se-ra, the 20-something version of Uhm Jung-hwa’s character Bong Cheong-ja, shared her excitement about the role:
“Since she isn’t a villain, I didn’t need to worry about those overlaps. What I really liked was that Uhm Jung-hwa sunbaenim was genuinely glamorous during her prime. The fact that I was portraying her past self in the drama that was really exciting for me.”
Her candid comment earned a warm smile from Uhm Jung-hwa, who plays the older Bong Cheong-ja a once top star who wakes up to find 25 years of her life missing.

When asked about how she approached portraying a woman in her 50s with the mindset of someone in her 20s, Uhm Jung-hwa said:
“The body is in her 50s, but the memory belongs to her 20s. So the speech and behavior reflect someone in their 20s. But when she’s in a rush, sometimes a 50s speech pattern slips out.”

Actor Song Seung-heon, who plays detective Dok Go-cheol, described his character as a classic tsundere — cold on the outside but warm underneath. “He looks rough and curt, but deep down, he’s caring. I found that very human,” he said, adding with a laugh that the role wasn’t difficult because it reflects his real-life personality.
My Troublesome Star is a whimsical romantic comedy about a glamorous star who wakes up 25 years in the future, now an ordinary middle-aged woman. The story blends laughter, emotion, and romance in a touching exploration of identity, memory, and second chances.
