Jackson Wang is once again going viral after footage of his shocking Coachella performance resurfaced across social media platforms.
The clip currently spreading online captures the finale of Jackson Wang’s solo set at Coachella 2023. Rather than using aerial suspension wires, the dramatic scene was actually an elaborate illusion performance created in collaboration with magician Kevin Li directly on stage.

Dressed in a striking red suit beneath dim theatrical lighting, Jackson slowly leaned backward as hidden props and visual tricks created the illusion of a sword piercing through his body. Maintaining perfect balance while bending nearly completely backward, he combined expressive body language with theatrical movement to recreate a dramatic “collapse” in front of the audience.
The ending sequence immediately stunned the massive crowd at the festival due to its bold visual impact. After the clip began circulating again on platforms such as X and TikTok, the performance once more generated huge engagement online.

Many netizens praised Jackson Wang’s creative stage direction and willingness to push boundaries. Numerous comments described the performance as proof that he had evolved beyond the image of a typical idol, instead delivering a memorable artistic experience while establishing a distinct identity on one of the world’s biggest music festival stages.
The performance also perfectly continued the dark and mysterious concept Jackson pursued throughout his Magic Man era. At Coachella, he appeared with black-and-gray two-tone hair and heavy Joker-inspired makeup, creating a powerful and eerie visual image.

Together with his dance crew, Jackson performed intricate choreography filled with theatrical elements. Songs including 100 Ways, Cruel, and Blow were rearranged with intense rock-inspired energy, highlighting his abilities as a global performance artist.
Before entering the entertainment industry, Jackson Wang was a promising fencer for Hong Kong’s national team. In January 2014, he officially debuted as a rapper and dancer with GOT7. His stage skills, humor, and relentless work ethic helped both him and GOT7 achieve worldwide popularity.

Jackson later became associated with major GOT7 hits such as Just Right, If You Do, Hard Carry, and Lullaby. Even after leaving JYP Entertainment in January 2021, Jackson and the other members insisted on keeping the GOT7 name, repeatedly assuring fans that the group had not disbanded and would reunite for future projects.
At the same time, Jackson aggressively expanded his solo career internationally by founding Team Wang in 2017. His first English-language album Mirrors topped Billboard’s Emerging Artists chart, while the single 100 Ways made him the first Chinese solo artist to enter the Top 40 of the Mediabase radio chart.

However, after the success of MAGIC MAN, which reached No.15 on the Billboard 200 in 2022, Jackson’s music career began showing signs of slowing down. Rather than maintaining a constant stream of hit releases, he started appearing more frequently at entertainment events and public appearances.
The singer also openly admitted to struggling with severe depression, which forced him to temporarily pause many artistic activities for a long period.

After nearly three years away, Jackson returned with MAGIC MAN 2, an 11-track album continuing his exploration of dark emotions and personal trauma. Nevertheless, the comeback was considered relatively quiet compared to the status he once held as a top-tier star. The music video for Made Me A Man reportedly surpassed only around 50,000 views within two hours of release.
Some critics argued that the repeated themes of loneliness and emotional crisis made the album feel overly heavy and lacking in musical evolution, limiting its mainstream appeal. Although strong fan support still helped the album debut at No.13 on the Billboard 200, its broader public impact appeared noticeably weaker than before.

Before Jackson could fully regain momentum, another controversy emerged during the Brazil stop of his Magic Man 2 World Tour. Multiple attendees reportedly filed complaints with consumer protection agencies over unusually inflated ticket prices caused by excessive service fees.
While the investigation primarily targeted ticket distributors rather than Jackson directly, the controversy still created negative publicity that affected the promotion of the tour and his ongoing efforts to reclaim his former musical dominance.
