A member of representative girl group IVE expressed gratitude to fans as she opened the 2023 MMA
On the afternoon of the 2nd, the Melon Music Awards (2023 MMA) took place at Incheon Inspire Arena.
After Silica Gel set the stage for the first performance, IVE’s Ahn Yujin appeared on stage and took the microphone, saying, “There was a girl who came to see the Melon Music Awards in the winter of 2016. She cheered while looking at K-pop stars and dreamed of becoming a singer like them. After 7 years, I’ve grown into IVE’s Ahn Yujin. It’s a bit embarrassing, but that’s my story”.
The female idol then continued, “Among the audience and viewers who came to watch today’s performance, I wonder if someone, like me, will become a cool singer standing on the stage. Perhaps, they will reminisce like me in the future. The driving force that makes imagination possible is none other than K-pop”.
Additionally, Ahn Yujin expressed that the 2023 MMA is an occasion to repay gratitude to the fans who have sent much love to K-pop throughout the year. She also smiled and added, “Many artists have diligently prepared for the stage with gratitude. Thank you to everyone who loved K-pop this year. I assure you that all artists will do their best without regret for the past year. Enjoy the 2023 Melon Music Awards to the fullest.”
Meanwhile, MMA2023 featured special performances from a total of 13 lineup artists, including NCT DREAM, aespa, IVE, NewJeans, STAYC, Lee Young-ji, BOYNEXTDOOR, ZEROBASEONE, RIIZE, KISS OF LIFE, imase, Silica Gel, and SHINee, who achieved excellent results on Melon, Korea’s most popular music platform, during the year.
