On February 5th at midnight KST, IU unveiled the tracklist video for her 6th mini-album ‘The Winning’.
The released video presents a unique format resembling an online shopping mall purchase list. It lists a total of 5 songs, including the double title tracks ‘Shopper’ and ‘홀씨 (Dandelion Spore),’ as well as ‘Shh..,’ ‘Love wins all’ and ‘I stan U.’
Towards the end of the video, IU’s pure voice briefly captivated listeners with the words, “Oh I want all I must have all, all.”
In this mini-album, IU devoted considerable time preparing as a producer, from songwriting to meticulous details.
The title track ‘Shopper’ was a collaboration between IU and composer Lee Jonghoon, who has worked on her many mega-hit songs like ‘Leon,’ ‘Twenty-three,’ and ‘BBIBBI.’ IU also participated in the lyrics. The other title track, ‘홀씨 (Dandelion Spore),’ drew attention as IU, along with composers Lee Jonghoon and Lee Chaegyu, was directly involved in both composition and lyrics.
IU raised expectations by contributing solo lyrics to all songs, creating anticipation for her unique touch. Multiple skilled musicians joined forces to enhance the overall completion of IU’s mini-album.
Particularly, the 3rd track ‘Shh..’ sparked curiosity with a special notation indicating a collaboration with NewJeans Hyein.
IU will release the entire ‘The Winning’ album on February 20th at 6 PM KST through music streaming sites.
