On July 18, the glitz and glamour of the 4th Blue Dragon Series Awards filled Paradise City in Incheon, celebrating the best of Korea’s streaming content. Among the night’s most emotional moments was IU (Lee Ji-eun) receiving the Best Actress award for her dual role as Oh Ae-soon and Yang Geum-myung in “When Life Gives You Tangerines”.

With visible surprise and a trembling voice, IU stepped onto the stage to deliver one of the most moving acceptance speeches of the night.
“I’m IU, who played Ae-soon and Geum-myung in ‘When Life Gives You Tangerines’. Thank you so much. From the moment I received the script, during filming, waiting for the premiere, and even now, this has become the greatest source of pride in my life”, she said.
IU went on to express her deep gratitude to writer Im Sang-chun, director Kim Won-seok, and the entire cast and crew. She also thanked the production team for entrusting her with a character as dynamic as Ae-soon, whom she described as clever, talkative, and vivid
The idol-actress then concluded with an emotional dedication, stating, “In a world that tells us to live vaguely, I dedicate this award to every Ae-soon who lives clearly in her own way, and to every Geum-myung who plants and nurtures their own ambitions with quiet strength.”
Her words resonated not only with the audience in the room but also with fans online, many of whom praised her for her authenticity and humility. It is known that IU won against Park Eun-bin (Hyper Knife), Seo Hyun-jin (The Trunk), Hyeri (Friendly Rivalry), and Cha Joo-young (The Queen Who Crowns).
Meanwhile, the Best Actor award went to Joo Ji-hoon for his role as Baek Kang-hyuk in “The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call”. In his acceptance speech, he acknowledged the challenge of adapting a webtoon into a realistic drama, expressing gratitude to director Lee Do-yoon, his fellow actors, and the production team, before adding, “I would like to thank everyone who loves Korean media”.
