IU Drops MV Teaser for Title Track ‘Holssi’ Featuring Tweety Bird

Tweety Bird, the animated character from Warner Bros’ ‘Looney Tunes,’ will appear in the MV for one of IU’s upcoming double title tracks, ‘Holssi’.” The MV teaser, released at 0:00 KST on February 15, features a surprise appearance by Tweety Bird, garnering hot reactions both domestically and globally.

In the teaser, IU was standing against a vast outdoor backdrop, with dandelion seeds appearing one by one. Dynamic dance scenes then captivated viewers’ attention. 

Especially surprising was the appearance of a large-sized Tweety Bird next to IU, who was pushing a cart loaded with items and with a receipt fluttering in the wind. 

Towards the end of the video, IU gazes into the camera as a part saying “She became a hossi (dandelion spore),” briefly appears, ending with a unique composition visually showing her transformed into a ‘holssi’.

IU’s new mini-album’s double title track ‘Holssi’ has a unique composition based on hip-hop/R&B. IU’s voice, over solid drums and bass, plays various roles, sometimes a flexible R&B singer, sometimes a sharp rapper, and sometimes evoking a playful mood as if singing a nursery rhyme. 

This song marks a reunion of IU with composers who produced hits like “Twenty-three,” and “Blueming.” Particularly noteworthy is that IU wrote all of the lyrics, which already raises expectations for her empathetic catchphrases that resonate with listeners across generations with each release.

Tweety Bird first became known to the public in 1942 as a canary character in the “Looney Tunes” animation. Known for its confident and optimistic personality, bright yellow color, and cute visuals, Tweety Bird continues to captivate global pop culture fans. 

Meanwhile, IU’s new mini-album ‘The Winning’ will be released through major online music sites at 6 p.m. KST on February 20th.
