“It’s not hard to kill you at all,” YG Yang Hyun-suk to sit at the B.I drug investigation trial today (May 30th)
Yang Hyun-seok, the former YG Entertainment representative producer and current YG’s largest shareholder, will continue the trial on charges of covering up the drug investigation related to B.I (real name Kim Han-bin), a former member of YG’s idol group iKON.
On May 30, the fifth trial will be held at the Seoul Central District Court in Seocho-gu, Seoul, on charges of Yang Hyun-seok‘s retaliation threat under the Act on Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes. The fifth trial was originally scheduled to take place on May 15th, but it was postponed to two weeks later after witness A expressed her intention to not attend due to her health problems.
Witness A is serving her sentence for using methamphetamine. Following the attendance of the witness at the third and fourth trials, Yang Hyun-suk will face cross-examination at the fifth trial.
According to the prosecution, Yang Hyun-seok is accused of threatening to reverse the witness’ statement by calling A to the YG office through B, who was the head of YG’s management support at the time. Yang Hyun-seok reportedly urged A to make false statements, saying, “You have to be a good girl,” “I can see all the reports,” and “It’s not hard for me to kill you in this entertainment industry.”
In addition to intimidation charges, Yang Hyun-seok is also accused of conspiring with C to try to make A flee to the United States so that A can no longer make statements related to B.I). He was indicted without detention in May 2020.
Yang Hyun-seok denied the charges, saying, “It is true that I met A, but I have never threatened or forced her to make a false statement.”
On the other hand, A testified again that it was true that the defendant (Yang Hyun-seok) threatened her, and that he also promised her that “I’ll appoint you a lawyer if you reverse your statement.”
Yang Hyun-suk’s allegations of intimidation stemmed from the drug scandal of B.I, a former iKON member who was indicted last year after it was belatedly revealed in 2019 that he used drugs after buying cannabis and LSD through A in April to May 2016. According to the prosecution’s investigation, B.I. had smoked cannabis a total of three times, and purchased 8 tablets of LSD.
