“Itaewon Class” actress to star in lesbian movie with Fan Bingbing: dropped out of school to pursue acting
This Korean actress is drawing great attention after she confirmed her appearance in the movie “Green Night”, which features Fan Bingbing.
Fan Bingbing’s latest movie “Green Night” is drawing huge attention with its theme of same-sex romance and multitude of adult scenes. According to the program list of the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival, the movie follows “two lone female fighters who have learned to rely on no one but themselves venture into Seoul’s underworld”. It is known that in search of “liberation from their useless husbands, these disparate women grow closer.”
Alongside famous Chinese actress Fan Bingbing, Korean actress Lee Joo Young will play a major role in “Green Night”. Lee Joo Young is a familiar name to K-drama lovers, having previously assumed characters who belong to the LGBTQ+ community. In particular, the actress used to star in a lesbian work, before taking on the role of a transgender woman in hit K-drama “Itaewon Class”. At the time, she drew huge attention with her flawless visuals, bleached hair, and cool tomboy styling.
After “Itaewon Class”, however, Lee Joo Young’s career only included one drama and one movie appearance. Her only memorable event in the past 3 years was when she participated in the movie “Broker”, where she starred alongside famous names such as IU and Kang Dong Won. Born in 1992, Lee Joo Young did not initially pursue an acting career. She enrolled in the Department of Physical Education at the prestigious Kyung Hee University, where she developed a passion for acting as she watched plays at the Daehangno theater every week. She decided to quit her studies and immediately transferred to the Department of Theater and Cinema at Kyung Hee University to pursue her passion.
