American actress Isabelle Tate has died at the age of 23. On October 23, her agency, The McCray Agency, announced that she passed away on October 19 and revealed the cause as a rare form of Charcot–Marie–Tooth (CMT) disease, a progressive neurological disorder.

Tate was first diagnosed with the condition at age 13. In a 2022 social media post she wrote that her leg muscles had grown weaker, forcing her to use a wheelchair. She added, “I hated that it was not only breaking me down physically, but I was allowing it to also break down my spirit. I would have never expected something like this to happen to me, as most of us wouldn’t. I don’t know why these were the cards I was dealt in life, but I can’t change it so I’m choosing to embrace it and not let it define me.”

Despite her diagnosis, she pursued acting and landed her very first television role in the pilot episode of ABC’s 9‑1‑1: Nashville, playing a character named Julie who uses a wheelchair. Her co‑star, Hunter McVey, expressed deep sorrow and praised her energy and kindness on set.

In lieu of flowers, Tate’s family requested donations be made to the Charcot–Marie–Tooth Association, highlighting the true cause behind her death.

Her obituary described her as a “fighter” who never made excuses and as someone whose greatest joy came from helping animals and being with her family.

Isabelle Tate’s passing is a tragic reminder of the strength and vision of a young talent taken too soon.
