Is Woollim Entertainment On The Verge Of Closing Down?

Fans raised concerns over Woollim Entertainment’s internal situation based on their groups and singers’ activities

A fan on X (formerly Twitter) drew attention with a post pointing out that Woollim artists have not released any mini or full album for one and a half years. This fan added several photos showing posters for the recent single releases of Woollim artists, such as DRIPPIN, ROCKET PUNCH, Golden Child and Kwon Eun-bi. In response to this post, many fans of the mentioned groups also agreed.

In the case of Golden Child, their latest music activity is the single album “Feel Me”. It is known that the group’s last mini album until now was their sixth EP “Aura” in August 2022. Rocket Punch has not yet introduced any new album after the release of the mini album “Yellow Punch” in February 2022. In particular, this group has never released any full album since their debut in 2019. DRIPPIN released a full album in November 2022 following their third mini album “Villain” in January of the same year. However, the group has been doing only single promotions recently.

Regarding solo artists, Lee Sujeong, also known as Lovelyz’s BabySoul, released only one mini album in 2022 and has not been active since then. Kwon Eun-bi promoted her 3rd mini album “Lethality” in October 2022 and became viral with her performance of the album’s title “Underwater” at music festivals. It is also her latest album release.

Looking through the discography of Woollim artists, it seems like promotions continued regularly until 2022. Starting in 2023, their three groups and solo singers have only been releasing singles. As a result, fans are wondering if Woollim is having financial problems as the company seems to be running out of budget to produce and promote mini and full albums.

INFINITE

Seeing the situation, some netizens are very surprised. Woollim used to be considered one of the high-quality entertainment companies thanks to the great success of INFINITE and Lovelyz. However, INFINITE members left the company one after another and the last person only stayed until 2022. Lovelyz also disbanded when their contracts expired in 2021. As such, it seems that Woollim is struggling to maintain regular promotions for other singers after losing their major artists.
