Is Song Joong-ki’s Cameo In “Queen of Tears” Important For The Storyline?

“Queen of Tears” successfully increased its viewership with Song Joong-ki’s special appearance, but its actual problem is not ratings

Song Joong-ki made a surprise appearance as lawyer Vincenzo for Hong Hae-in (Kim Ji-won) in episode 8 of tvN’s Sat-Sun drama “Queen of Tears”, which aired on March 31st. As a result, the drama recorded its highest rating of 16.1%.

In episode 8 of “Queen of Tears”, Song Joong-ki appeared as a divorce lawyer for Hong Hae-in, who wanted to divorce her husband. He reenacted the role of Vincenzo in his previous tvN drama “Vincenzo” and drew attention with his portrayal of a mafia lawyer once again.

However, some viewers commented that Song Joong-ki’s cameo appearance lacked connection with the storyline. The process of Moh Seul-hee (Lee Mi-sook) putting Chairman Hong Man-dae (Kim Gap-soo) in a coma and taking control of the Queen’s Group was said to lack coherence

Earlier, “Queen of Tears” already received negative feedback for its careless description of chaebols. It showed more clearly in episode 8. The detail that the chaebols were so easily deprived of all management rights due to the plan of Moh Seul-hee is far from reality. In addition, some pointed out that the crisis between Hong Hae-in and Baek Hyun-woo (Kim Soo-hyun) is excessive.

After the recent broadcast, viewers are still pouring criticism over the story development in “Queen of Tears” open talk and official videos. In addition, criticism over the writer’s writing skills continues and many believe that it’s a waste of the actors’ excellent acting.

As such, shouldn’t the production team have paid more attention to building a solid story rather than attracting attention to create hot topics and increase ratings with Song Joong-ki’s cameo role?
