On the morning of October 4, BLACKPINK’s Lisa released her 3rd solo music project of 2024, titled “Moonlit Floor”. The song samples the original hit “Kiss Me” by Sixpence None The Richer, which was a favorite in the 2000s.
Previously, after performing “Moonlit Floor” at the 2024 Global Citizen Festival, the lead singer of Sixpence None The Richer posted a message of praise for the youngest BLACKPINK member’s performance, effectively shutting down unfounded plagiarism rumors.
Unlike her previous four solo projects, including “LALISA”, “Money”, “ROCKSTAR”, and “New Woman” – which boasts a strong image, “Moonlit Floor” is a sweet love song showcasing a rare, tender side of BLACKPINK’s youngest member. With a pop-heavy melody, Lisa fully displays her dreamy voice, captivating listeners with each note, a stark contrast to her usual fast-paced rap flows.
The song begins with a romantic scene of a passionate couple, “I’ma need to hear you say it out loud. ‘Cause I love it when my name slips out your mouth. Love it when your eyes caress my body (Oh-oh). Right before you lace your kisses on me”.
Then, there’re the lyrics that have fans convinced that the male lead in “Moonlit Floor” is none other than the French CEO Frédéric Arnault, including “Green-eyed French boy got me trippin'” and “Kiss me under the Paris twilight”, which many people associate with sweet moments between her and her rumored French boyfriend.
Additionally, Lisa is thought to be revealing the reason she fell in love at first sight with Frédéric Arnault. Specifically, this is shown in the lyrics, “Truth is, I wasn’t tryna meet nobody. Baby, I was gonna get my bag. But when I saw you I was like, ‘I like that.’ Wasn’t tryna bite, baby, I’ll fall back. But when I heard you say, ‘Bonjour, baby.’ I was like, ‘Damn.'”
Lisa and Frédéric Arnault are believed to have met for the first time when both attended the launch event of BVLGARI’s high-end jewelry collection held in Venice (Italy) in mid-May 2023. This has led fans to suspect that this is the moment Lisa was initially only focused on work but was struck by “love at first sight” when she met Frédéric and heard his sweet “Bonjour, baby.“
Moreover, Lisa made fans blush when “Moonlit Floor” included an 18+ line, describing an intimate moment between the couple, “How your tongue do all those tricks? How you know just where to.”
However, fans have also pointed out that Lisa was not included in the credits for “Moonlit Floor”, and so is unlikely to have participated in the lyrics for this song. The lyrics, therefore, may not be about Frédéric afterall.
