Many netizens are saying that nominating BLACKPINK like this is unfair to other artists.
On June 23rd, 3 nominations for Inkigayo (SBS) weekly music trophy are “To Be Honest” (Kim Na Young), “Unspoken Words” (Davichi) và “Kill This Love” (BLACKPINK).
On many Korean forums, netizens are questioning the validity of Inkigayo’s latest nominations. Among the criterias for Inkigayo’s cup, 55% of the score is from digital sales. It has been more than 2 months since “Kill This Love” was released, but they are still on the nomination list of Inkigayo. In fact, this BLACKPINK track doesn’t even have a high ranking on digital charts, and even fall to below #30 on MelOn. This is why netizens are suspecting Inkigayo of being biased towards BLACKPINK by making them a nominee amid other songs with stably high ranks such as “Boy with Luv” (BTS), “No One” (Lee Hi), “Fancy” (TWICE)…
Korean internet users are saying that putting BLACKPINK on the nomination is unfair to other artists. Inkigayo is known to be the “backyard of YG”, and their biased action towards BLACKPINK upsets many netizens. One comments said: “BLACKPINK is still nominated? Surprised? It’ll be more convincing if that was Somi or Lee Hi.”
Apart from controversy regarding “Kill This Love”, K-netizens are also suspecting “To Be Honest” of Kim Na Young. This song is having a very high digital achievement on many charts. However, Koreans said that Kim Na Young is still a very popular name which is hard for her to win a trophy on such a big station.
Many are questioning the chance of Kim Na Young’s digital cheating: “Is Kim Na Young related to Sean, Nilo, Jang Deok Chul and Woody (artists who were suspected of digital cheating)”; “Why do I feel like digital charts are all controlled”; “Me and my friends, no one knows about Kim Na Young. How did she win the trophy?”,…
