INFINITE’s Sungjong confronts his agency “Fans receive surprising news”

According to The Fact on Jan 16th, Sungjong informed his agency SPK Entertainment (hereinafter SPK) of the termination of his exclusive contract at the end of last year.

It has been confirmed that Sungjong sent multiple content certifications stating the reasons for terminating the exclusive contract, including the non-payment of the exclusive contract fee and settlement fees, as well as the breakdown of trust with the agency.

Sungjong’s legal representative, lawyer Kang Yoon-hee (Law firm One), revealed that the agency did not provide any personnel or material support and did not pay settlement fees for activities.

Sungjong

The agency’s CEO has consistently remained silent without providing any official response to the content certifications.

Sungjong’s side stated that they have made several attempts for an amicable agreement with the agency but, if SPK’s CEO continues to remain unresponsive, they are considering legal action.

Sungjong debuted as part of boy group INFINITE in 2010 under Woollim Entertainment (hereinafter Woollim) and was active for about 12 years under Woollim. After leaving Woollim in January 2022, Sungjong signed an exclusive contract with SPK in September 2022.

INFINITE

Sungjong successfully completed a domestic concert in October 2022 and a fan meeting in Taiwan in November 2022, just 1~2 months after signing the exclusive contract with SPK. He released the single “The One” in March last year and participated in INFINITE’s 7th mini-album “13egin” in July last year. At that time, INFINITE sold out all seats for the concert held at KSPO DOME.

Sungjong’s side claimed that despite holding fan meetings and concerts as a solo singer and participating in albums as an INFINITE member, Sungjong has not received settlement fees for such activities.

Despite more than a year and three months passing since signing with SPK, Sungjong’s solo activities have only included releasing a single. It is difficult to see that proper support from the agency has been provided.

Sungjong’s side stated that if SPK continues to refuse to respond to the content certifications, they will consider filing a lawsuit.
