The first still cuts featuring Park Min-young‘s radical visual as Kang Ji-won in tvN’s new Monday-Tuesday drama “Marry My Husband” (written by Shin Yoo-dam/directed by Park Won-guk/planned by Studio Dragon/produced by DK E&M), which is scheduled to premiere on January 1st, 2024, were released, grabbing attention.
“Marry My Husband” is based on the popular web novel of the same name. It tells the story of a woman who was murdered after witnessing her husband’s affair with her best friend. She returns to ten years ago and begins her second life.
In the drama, Kang Ji-won is an ordinary South Korean woman who endures a useless husband, indifferent in-laws and a difficult job. Having spent her life just enduring, always thinking of others more than herself, she did not even know she had become a “sucker” surrounded by people who only thought of her as a rightless person when she showed kindness. However, what awaits Kang Ji-won at the end is the affair between her husband Park Min-hwan (Lee Yi-kyung) and her only friend Jung Soo-min (Song Ha-yoon), and cancer that comes in her youthful age.
In the released photos, Kang Ji-won’s situation just before regression is captured, grabbing attention with her appearance in a patient’s gown, a hat, an incredibly thin face and a pale complexion. The desperate state of Kang Ji-won, crumbling under the hardships of battling illness and a weary life just before regression, is vividly felt, inducing over-immersion from viewers.
In particular, Park Min-young reportedly put in a lot of effort, even undergoing severe weight loss, to realistically express the setting of Kang Ji-won as a cancer patient. The production team of “Marry My Husband” said, “Park Min-young spared no effort to realistically portray Kang Ji-won as a cancer patient. Everyone on set was surprised.”
