If it’s not Park Eun-bin, who else will do it?… Another character of a lifetime with “Woo Young-woo”

Viewers cannot imagine Woo Young-woo without actress Park Eun-bin. Park Eun-bin creates another character of a lifetime through “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”.

She completely filled “The King’s Affection” with the role of Lee Hwi, but this time she is showing a new side as Woo Young-woo, a lawyer with autism spectrum disorder. In “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” (written by Moon Ji-won, directed by Yoo In-shik), which premiered on ENA on June 29th, Park Eun-bin plays Woo Young-woo, a genius newcomer lawyer with autism spectrum. Although Park Eun-bin does not quickly get the terms “autism spectrum” and “lawyer”, she is trying to convince viewers by playing Woo Young-woo, who has both.

Park Eun-bin put on Woo Young-woo’s clothes as she melted various details to play this role. She made various efforts to express the autism spectrum, from finger movements to the appearance of wearing headphones. At the press conference before the first broadcast, Park Eun-bin said, “When I read the synopsis for the first time, I wondered ‘What should I do to act this?’ I knew nothing about this. I was very cautious and afraid that I might create prejudice. I kept wondering ‘Is it okay for me to act this and that?’ Then I found the answer that rather than thinking about acting, I need to understand how I feel about it first. I added Eun-bin’s sincerity to Young-woo’s sincerity.”

Park Eun-bin also talked about her efforts to make her acting look real. She shared, “I didn’t want to imitate the character that had been embodied by the media, so I decided not to copy. I considered ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo’ a work that I had to be careful and cautious about because I was afraid that I’d approach it in the wrong way or create perceptions. So I studied by text. There are four diagnostic criteria for people with autism spectrum disorder and I studied them. I also met a professor to ask for advice on autism and learned some general characteristics of people with autism. The result of my studies is Woo Young-woo that viewers will see in the drama.

In addition, Park Eun-bin created Woo Young-woo with her own voice, expressions and even gestures. In fact, Park Eun-bin’s efforts were clearly revealed in the drama. The way Woo Young-woo takes a step into a new world touched viewers’ hearts. Everything is new in front of Woo Young-woo, who goes to work for the first time at the law firm Hanbada. Even the revolving door is considered an area to be challenged, leaving a deep impression on viewers. Besides, the fact that Woo Young-woo discovers something that veteran lawyers could not see from a completely different perspective drew attention. Attention is also being paid to how Woo Young-woo, who made her debut as a lawyer by breaking prejudice, will be depicted by actress Park Eun-bin in the future.

Park Eun-bin is expected to secure another character of a lifetime through “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”. Attention is also focused on the new world that Park Eun-bin, who met viewers with various characters such as Song Ji-won in “Hello, My Twenties!”, Lee Se-young in “Hot Stove League”, Chae Song-ah in “Do You Like Brahms?” and Lee Hwi in “The King’s Affection”, will show through her first one-top lead drama “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”.
