“I hate Jeon Jae-joon” Park Sung-hoon, who lost his real name, and his A+ filmography

Viewers are saying that they dislike actor Park Sung-hoon one after another. It's a joke that arose due to his exceptional portrayal of the villain character Yoon Eun-sung in tvN's drama "Queen of Tears"

Park Sung-hoon goes beyond simply playing a villain and chillingly depicts both affection and obsession towards Hong Hae-in (Kim Ji-won).

Viewer reactions exploded. Comments like “His acting is so good that it’s annoying“, “The obsession and madness itself. It’s chilling“, “Was that accident also Jae-joon’s doing?” received a lot of empathy.

Interestingly, both actor Park Sung-hoon and the character Yoon Eun-sung are still referred to as Jae-joon. Park Sung-hoon previously appeared on a YouTube channel and revealed, “At the filming site of ‘Queen of Tears’, I was also called Jae-joon. Jae-joon’s presence is so strong that I’ve lost my real name.”

Last year’s Netflix series “The Glory” featured a different kind of villain, Jeon Jae-joon, who had a mix of snob and color blindness complex, making him irresistibly hateable. Jeon Jae-joon’s unique humor code also hit viewers’ preferences. Park Sung-hoon’s portrayal of Jeon Jae-joon was provocative and sexy. It’s natural that it’s unforgettable.

Before Jeon Jae-joon, there was Jang Go-rae from KBS 2TV’s “My Only One”. Being called by the character’s name indicates a strong impact. Simply saying “he did well” is not enough to capture the nuance. Park Sung-hoon has proven his wide and deep acting spectrum from the good role of Jang Go-rae to the villainous Jeon Jae-joon.

Despite being a talented actor with a strong allure, there was a time when he wondered about his potential as an actor during his long years of anonymity. After debuting in the movie “A Frozen Flower” in 2008, there was no work for over three years. Park Sung-hoon started with minor and supporting roles, appearing in dramas such as “You Are the Boss!”, “Three Days”, “Six Flying Dragons”, “Don’t Dare to Dream”, “Distorted”, “Mad Dog”, “Black Knight: The Man Who Guards Me”, “Rich Man”…

The first lead role he took on was in the movie “Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum” (2018). It was a full decade after his debut. Afterward, he steadily rose through dramas like “My Only One”, “Justice”, “Psychopath Diary”, “Into The Ring”, “The Glory”, “Not Others”, “The Kidnapping Day” and “Queen of Tears”.

Park Sung-hoon is set to appear in Netflix’s series “Squid Game 2” in the latter half of this year. Expectations are naturally high for another performance in a global masterpiece. What name will he earn this time?
