“I don’t want to watch whenever you’re on screen” Park Sung-hoon hears a lot of hurtful words while participating in ‘Queen of Tears’

Actor Park Sung-hoon named inferiority complex and poverty as the driving forces behind his growth

On May 20th, Singles magazine drew attention by releasing a pictorial featuring Park Sung-hoon, who played Yoon Eun-sung in tvN’s drama “Queen of Tears“, which holds the record for the highest viewership rating on tvN.

“Queen of Tears” boasts a remarkable 24.9% viewership rating, making it the highest-rated drama in tvN’s history. Park Sung-hoon shared, “I thought viewers would enjoy it since it’s a work by writer Park Ji-eun. I’m proud and happy to receive even more love than I expected.

To bring the character Yoon Eun-sung to life, Park Sung-hoon said he made an effort to differentiate Yoon Eun-sung from Jeon Jae-joon in “The Glory”. He explained, “Jeon Jae-joon had a playboy-like and flashy style. For Yoon Eun-sung, I aimed for a more gentle and formal feel. I also altered my voice tone; Jeon Jae-joon had a higher pitch with a lot of emphasis, while Yoon Eun-sung’s tone was lower and more subdued.

When asked about the reactions to his portrayal of the villain Yoon Eun-sung, Park Sung-hoon humorously replied, “I often heard comments like ‘I don’t want to watch whenever you’re on screen’ and ‘You make me sigh’.”

Park Sung-hoon is set to return to the stage in Daehakro after 7 years with the play “Bread”. He mentioned, “It’s a work that lasts over 3 hours, with an enormous amount of dialogue, so I feel nervous. I’m excited and burdened, but I’m practicing hard for the audience.”

When asked about the driving forces behind his growth, he candidly admitted, “It was inferiority complex and poverty. Financial hardship made me want to earn money, and feeling inadequate in my acting pushed me to work on many projects, driving my growth.
