According to industry reports, Hyunseok, formerly of CIX, has officially joined the cast of Study Group Season 2, with filming already in progress.

The action-packed coming-of-age drama is adapted from the popular webtoon of the same name and follows Yoon Ga-min, a student determined to improve academically despite being far more talented at fighting than studying. The first season earned praise for blending intense action with emotional character growth, helping establish Study Group as one of TVING’s standout original series.

Hyunseok will portray Ji Young-hyun, an important character from the original webtoon known for his commanding charisma and strong presence. Season 2 is expected to expand beyond the students’ personal growth by exploring deeper backstories and introducing larger conflicts tied to the mysterious forces surrounding them.

With Hwang Minhyun reprising his role as Yoon Ga-min, viewers are eager to see the chemistry between the two actors as they lead the next chapter of the story.

Hyunseok debuted as a member of CIX in 2019 before gradually transitioning into acting. His growing list of acting credits includes: Best Mistake, Fall for You, The Chairman Is Level 9, The Probability of Meeting Romance on a Trip Season 3.5 and Me, Myself, and I.

Earlier this year, he signed with Management Run, marking a new phase in his acting career. He has also confirmed his appearance in tvN’s upcoming drama My Bias, My Boss, which premieres on August 3, making Study Group Season 2 another major addition to his expanding résumé.

Meanwhile, Hwang Minhyun returns as Yoon Ga-min following the completion of his alternative military service. His decision to reprise the role has heightened anticipation for the new season, especially with Hyunseok joining as a major new character expected to play a pivotal role in the unfolding story.
