In an interview with CNN, Hyun Bin shared, “Everyone has desires and weaknesses, and those elements were essential in shaping my character.” Jung Woo-sung told ABC, “At the heart of this story is psychological warfare. When the two characters confront each other, there’s constant tension as they try to read each other’s true intentions.”
Reactions from international online communities such as X (formerly Twitter) and Reddit have also been positive. Viewers praised Hyun Bin’s commanding charisma, the compelling casting choices, the historical backdrop, and the cinematic tone of the series, noting that it feels more like a high-quality film than a typical TV production.
