Hyeri Reveals Casting Story: Followed Friend to Audition, Debuted After Just 2 Months

Former Girl's Day member and actress Hyeri shared the story of how she was cast and debuted in the K-pop group.

On August 15th, a video featuring idol-actress Hyeri and YouTuber DEX was published.

During the video, Dex mentioned to Hyeri, “You debuted at the age of 17,” to which Hyeri responded, “I debuted in 2010. But doesn’t it seem like it hasn’t been that long? It was 14 years ago,” expressing her own surprise.

Hyeri also explained how she ended up debuting, saying, “I wasn’t a trainee, nor was I preparing for anything. I was just lucky to get cast quickly.”

She continued, “A friend asked me for a favor because there was an empty spot at an audition, and they needed someone to fill it. Even though I didn’t know how to do anything, they said I just needed to be there to make up the numbers. So, I went, and I got cast there.”

“I always wanted to try being a celebrity, but when I was younger, it felt like something only a chosen few could achieve”, the idol-actress also confessed.

Hyeri further revealed how she ended up debuting with Girl’s Day, saying, “I joined the group midway. At that time, Girl’s Day was preparing an album, so I had to join quickly. I auditioned in August and debuted in October,” which surprised Dex.

Dex responded in amazement, “Really? That’s a super-speed debut. Isn’t that almost a record?” He then praised her, saying, “But you must have had a lot of talent for that to happen. Not just anyone could debut so quickly, right?”

Hyeri reflected, “I was a bit flustered, thinking, ‘Is it okay for me to do this?’ I wasn’t expecting it at all, but since I got such a great opportunity, I think I worked even harder.”
