On July 10th, Hyeri (Lee Hye-ri) attended the press conference for her new movie “Victory” held at Lotte Cinema Konkuk University Entrance in Seoull. At the event, Hyeri expressed confidence in her new character.
Hyeri’s character in Victory is retro and easygoing with a similar name to her previous character Deok-sun in tvN’s “Reply 1988”.
When asked if he took inspiration from “Repli 1988” to write the script for “Victory”, director Park said, “I didn’t take reference while working on this movie, but there were things I wanted to avoid. Some people told me that I should write the scenario by myself then change it later, but I was very confident that the character I created was completely different from Deok-sun”
Hyeri also shared, “The fact that I find nothing similar between my two characters so I wonder what parts made you think of Deok-sun”, adding “When I read the script for the first time, the character was so different that I did not even notice the similarities in the two characters’ names. I found out after someone called me with the name. You may feel similar because of the movie’s retro atmosphere, however, Pilsun looks like a leader as well as a friend, or an older sister, admired by everyone”.
“Victory” is a movie about the cheerleading team “Millennium Girls” full of passionate members cheering everyone with exciting dances and pop songs. The film will premiere on August 14.
