HYBE Labels is going to debut a new girl group through a survival program airing on JTBC and Abema TV Japan at the end of this month.
On June 1st, JTBC and Belift Lab announced that they have begun filming a new survival program called “R U Next?”.
“R U Next?” is a program to choose the final members for HYBE & CJ ENM JV label Belift Lab’s new girl group. With 10 episodes, the show will air every Friday at 8:50 p.m. starting from June 30th.
Participants who dream of debuting as an idol are receiving systematic training within a structured curriculum, and they will go through survival checkpoints one by one to prove their potential and star quality.
It is essential to verify the skills of the new girl group that will debut under HYBE to effectively operate the multi-label system that has made TXT and Enhypen 4th-generation representative groups and produced successful girl groups, such as LE SSERAFIM and NewJeans. Also, the trainees must meet the requirements of being a global star.
The production team explained, “A total of seven rounds of competition will be held, focusing on possibilities, expressiveness, genre digestion, professionalism, distinctiveness, creativity, and star quality.” They further emphasized, “Although fierce competition is inevitable, we will focus on the stories and relationships of the trainees and deliver their healthy image”, adding “Please look forward to how HYBE’s next girl group will be formed.”
HYBE successfully debuted Enhypen through the audition program “I-LAND” after establishing Belift Lab, a joint label with CJ ENM.
“R U Next?” project is completely different from “I-LAND”. According to HYBE’s multi-label strategy, this is to highlight Belift Lab’s originality and autonomy during the last preparation for a girl group debut.
The show is expected to draw keen attention as it will introduce the next team to continue the momentum of HYBE’s girl groups.
