HYBE artists (BTS, Seventeen, etc.) swept the awards at the 36th Japan Gold Disc Awards

BTS won 10 awards at the 36th Japan Gold Disc Awards, breaking the record for “most awards won by an overseas artist”.

According to the list of winners of the 36th Japan Gold Disc Awards released by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) on March 14th, BTS won 10 trophies in 9 categories.

In addition to Best Asian Artist, BTS also won Album of the Year, Best 3 Albums, Music Video of the Year, Song of the Year by Download, Song of the Year by Download (pop songs category), Best 5 Songs by Streaming (2 wins for 2 songs), Song of the Year by Streaming, etc.

BTS, who won 8 awards last year, won 10 awards this year, breaking the record of the most awards won by an overseas artist in the history of Japan Gold Disc Awards. In particular, the boy group also set a new record by winning the Best Artist (Asian category) for the 4th consecutive year.

BTS’s Japan album “BTS, THE BEST”, which was released in June 2021, was called out for Album of the Year and Best 3 Albums.

BTS’s digital single “Butter”, which was released in May last year, won 4 awards: Song of the Year by Download, Best 5 Songs by Download, Song of the Year by Streaming, and Best 5 Songs by Streaming. In the Best 5 Songs by Streaming category, “Permission to Dance”, which was released in July last year, was also listed. BTS achieved two wins with two different songs in one category.

Released in October last year, BTS’s collaboration song with Coldplay My Universe” won Song of the Year by Download (pop songs category).

The DVD that contains the live performances at BTS’s “MAP OF THE SOUL ON:E” concert held in October 2020 won Music Video of the Year.

The Japan Gold Disc Awards is one of Japan’s prestigious awards ceremonies that select and awards artists and works that have contributed to the development of the record industry throughout the year. Winners in each category will be selected according to their performances in physical sales, music videos, etc., over the past year.

In addition to BTS, other groups under HYBE Labels, showed good results at this 36th Japan Gold Disc Awards.

SEVENTEEN

Attacca”, the 9th mini-album of Seventeen (Pledis Entertainment), was listed in the Best 3 Albums (Asian category). This is the second consecutive year that Seventeen was awarded Best 3 Album as they also won this category with their 2nd mini-album “24H” last year.

In addition, Big Hit Music’s boy group TXT also won Best 3 Albums with their first EP in Japan “Chaotic Wonderland”, which was released in November last year.

Following their winning of New Artist of the Year and Best 3 New Artists, the trophy of Best 3 Album this year helped TXT be named in the list of Japan Gold Disc Awards winners for the second consecutive year.

In addition, Enhypen, a boygroup under BELIFT LAB, was awarded New Artist of the Year and Best 3 New Artists at this year’s award ceremony. This is the first time Enhypen got a win at the Japan Gold Disc Awards.
