“Big Mouth” recently concluded with high ratings, but a lot of viewers express their dissatisfaction and point out unanswered question
Starring Lee Jong Suk and Yoona, the crime K-drama “Big Mouth” has attracted attention from day one until its very end. However, after 16 episodes of pain, the male lead Park Chang Ho (Lee Jong Suk) still lives with sorrow, as his wife, Go Mi Ho (Yoona), passed away. It is quite a memorable and emotional ending, but netizens have been finding certain plot holes as “Big Mouth” concluded.
In particular, in episode 15, Go Mi Ho found out that she had late stage cancer due to a radiation leak at NK Chemical. She announced this publicly to the shock of her own husband, and with her being a victim and witness, the drama ended with justice being served and Mi Ho passing away in peace.
However, many netizens started to question how Mi Ho never sported any symptoms of cancer prior to her nosebleed, especially when she has blood cancer – something that should have affected the patient way early on. Her death also came too quick and too sudden, leading to speculations that the screenwriter just wanted to kill off Mi Ho to make things emotional.
Some also commented that there are too many unanswered questions in “Big Mouth”, such as the truth behind the death of Noh Park, how the mayor’s sons remain unpunished, and how many other cases are just brushed away.
Still, there are many that still jumped to defend the K-drama, saying that there are many cases of late discovery of cancer, and that Mi Ho never received any chemotherapy nor treatment, leading to her quick demise.
Whatever the case though, “Big Mouth” is still a successful K-drama, with interesting writing and brilliant acting performances. It is also quite the emotional roller coaster, where viewers are taken for quite the ride, and have their feelings resonate with each character. Perhaps, the only regrettable note is how Chang Ho and Mi Ho cannot be happy together after all their hardships.
